Life at Camp Sequoia Lake
This section offers a glimpse into our facilities, activities, food, schedule, and more to give you a better idea of our Youth, Teen and Family programs. Unfortunately, we haven't figured out how to show you the sunshine, cool breeze, smell of pine trees, or fresh, crisp air. You'll just have to come experience that part for yourself.

Camp Activities
YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake offers numerous activities throughout the week. Some of our long-time
favorites are listed below. This is just the beginning when it comes to fun things to do at camp.
Waterfront
| Each camp has its own water front and dock. This way Campers of all ages can enjoy many activities at the waterfront.
Be it rowing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking or going swimming in our multiple
swimming areas our waterfronts offer something for all ages and swimming abilities.
All activities are supervised by certified lifeguards and assisted by other staff. |
 |
Climbing Tower and Ropes Courses
| With multiple courses around Sequoia Lake, campers of various ages may experience the fun and challenge of a
Ropes Course. The courses are carefully planned and precisely constructed environment consisting
of a series of events from 6 inches to 40 feet off the ground. Built with ropes, cables, logs, and
platforms, these activities are designed to enhance teamwork, leadership and self-confidence and are always led by a skilled
facilitator. All elements more than 5 feet above the ground use climbing gear for safety and are
dynamically belayed. |

Archery
Learning to handle a bow and arrow are basic skills taught at Camp and a fun activity
to practice.
Craft Shed
 |
The Craft Shed is a great place to relax and has many projects to try for all ages and abilities. While most projects
require no additional money, a few projects can cost from 25¢ to $1.00 a piece. Projects offered
include lanyards, leather stamping, tie-dying, candle making, wood burning, clay, nature crafts, bead
jewelry and many, many more. |
Campfire
Our evening campfire program is everybody’s favorite and one of the things that
campers and staff will remember the most throughout their lives. The entire camp gathers together
at the campfire bowl for an evening of singing, acting, skits, jokes and storytelling.

Overnighter
Youth and Teens both will have the chance to experience hiking and exploring out on the
trail, cooking dinner over the campfire, and sleeping out under the stars. We have five terrific
campsite destinations in our private forest surrounding Camp Sequoia Lake.
Spiritual Challenge Program
The YMCA Rag and Leather program encourages campers to
examine their own lives and to make positive goals to better themselves. Campers eleven and under
participate in the Leathers program, and their personal challenge is represented by a Triangle, Square
or Circle leather piece on a necklace. Campers twelve and older may become Raggers, and each
challenge is represented by a different color scarf worn around the neck called a “rag.” Campers are
guided through this program by a mentor they have chosen. The Rag and Leather
program develops lasting friendships and promotes positive character through goal setting.
